JK Pools and Spa is based at 13962 18 Ave in Surrey, and most of our regular maintenance clients are in Surrey itself. That means our routes are dense here, which is why weekly service works reliably across the city rather than being an occasional visit squeezed between others further out.
Neighbourhoods We Cover in Surrey
Our Surrey routes run through:
- Grandview Heights and the surrounding 18 Ave corridor, where our shop is located
- South Surrey, including the areas built up through the 1980s and 1990s where pool installations vary widely in age
- Guildford and Newton, with a lot of older established pools on larger lots
- Whalley and the surrounding areas, where family homes with pools are common
- Cloverdale, including newer subdivisions where pool equipment is generally newer
- Port Kells and the northern parts of the city
Pools in Surrey Are Not All the Same Age
Surrey has a wide spread of pool ages, and the maintenance problems differ accordingly.
Older in-ground pools built in the 1970s and 1980s are common in Guildford, Newton, and parts of South Surrey. These frequently have original plaster that is approaching the end of its life, older plumbing with fittings that are reaching the point of needing replacement, and equipment that has been repaired several times rather than replaced. If you own one of these, the two questions worth asking are how much life is left in the surface, and what it would cost to bring the equipment up to a reasonable standard. Pools in newer Cloverdale and recent South Surrey subdivisions tend to be newer with better equipment, and the issues there are more often about how the pool is being managed than what is installed.
What Surrey’s Climate Does to Pools
Surrey gets a genuine winter, which is mild by Canadian standards but still cold enough to matter, and the combination of rain and relatively cool water in the shoulder seasons is what causes most problems.
Wet, mild winters
Winter rain raises organic load in the water and dilutes chemistry that is not being topped up. Pools that are left through the winter need attention even though they are not being used, particularly if covers are not fitted. Our seasonal pool care guide covers what each period needs.
Dry summers
August and September in Surrey are dry, and evaporation can be significant. Pools losing water to evaporation need it replaced with water that has been balanced, not just topped up with the hose, or the chemistry drifts every time.
Spring start-up
Most Surrey pools sit through the winter and come back into service in April or May. Start-up done properly, rather than filling the pool and hoping, shortens the time to clear water considerably.

A service area spread thinly across a large territory produces the schedule drift that makes maintenance services unreliable, and we would rather concentrate than pretend to cover more ground than we can service properly.
