A pool inspection is a straightforward thing to book and genuinely useful in four situations: before you start using a pool that has been closed or neglected, after buying a home with a pool, before you spend money on chemicals or equipment, and simply once a year as a general check on the health of the whole system.

What We Check
Water chemistry
A full test of pH, free chlorine, total sanitizer, alkalinity, calcium hardness, and cyanuric acid. The results are compared against the range where a pool actually stays healthy, and where a reading is out of range we tell you what is causing it rather than just what the number is.
Filtration
Whether the filter is clean enough to flow properly, whether the multiport or cartridge is in good condition, and whether the filter is large enough for the pool. A filter that cannot flow the designed volume is one of the most common causes of a pool that never quite looks right.
Circulation
Skimmers, baskets, and return fittings checked and cleaned, and the pump checked for noise, proper priming, and correct flow.
Equipment condition and age
Pump, heater, chlorinator, and automation checked for function, and their approximate age noted so you know what to plan for. This is the part of an inspection that tends to be most useful, because it tells you what to budget for rather than what to worry about today.
Water level and leaks
Water level checked, and the pool observed over the visit for signs of loss. If the level is dropping, we will tell you whether it looks like evaporation, a wet-set leak, or a plumbing issue, which are very different problems with very different costs.
Safety equipment
- Gate self-closing and self-latching action
- Safety cover condition, fit, and whether it is a genuine safety cover rather than a winter cover or inflatable
- Anti-entrapment drain covers intact and correctly fitted
- Whether the pool has a clear sightline for supervision from the house

Surface condition
Plaster, tile, and liner checked for staining, scaling, etching, cracks, and signs that a surface is near the end of its life. Catching a surface that is starting to fail while it is still serviceable is considerably better than catching it when it is not.
What You Get
A written summary of what was checked and what was found, with anything that needs attention prioritized by urgency rather than listed in the order we happened to look at it. You are welcome to ask questions about any of it, and to get a cost for the work if you want something done.
How Often
Once a year is a reasonable minimum for a pool that is used through the season. If you own a pool that sits through a wet winter and gets started again each spring, inspect it at start-up rather than on a fixed date, because that is when problems surface. If you have weekly maintenance, an annual inspection is still worthwhile as a second opinion on the whole system.
