A pool does not maintain itself. Left alone, a pool loses water to evaporation, collects debris, drifts out of chemical balance, and ends every season worse than it started. Weekly routed maintenance is the single most effective thing you can do for a pool: it keeps the water clear and safe, keeps the equipment running in the range it was designed for, and turns what would be a difficult weekend project into something you simply use.
JK Pools and Spa has been providing weekly pool cleaning and maintenance across Surrey, Langley, Maple Ridge, and White Rock for more than 20 years. Owner Jeff Kingdon still runs the routes personally.
What Weekly Pool Maintenance Includes
Our standard weekly visit is a fixed routine, not a guess. Each visit covers:
- Surface cleaning. Skimming leaves, insects, and debris off the surface before they sink and stain the plaster.
- Brushing. Walls and steps brushed to stop algae taking hold in the places automatic cleaners miss, particularly the waterline tile.
- Vacuuming. The floor vacuumed to remove settled debris that would otherwise cloud the water and burden the filter.
- Water testing and balancing. pH, free chlorine, alkalinity, and calcium hardness tested and adjusted into the correct range. This is the part that matters most and the part most often skipped.
- Filter inspection. Checked and rinsed or backwashed as needed, so the pump is not working against a clogged filter.
- Skimmer and basket emptying. Cleared so the circulation system can actually do its job.
- Equipment check. Pump, timer, and water level eyeballed for anything obviously wrong.
Why Weekly Beats Monthly
The chemistry of a pool moves quickly, particularly in warm weather. A pool that needs a pH adjustment on Monday can be out of range by Thursday, and algae can begin establishing in a matter of days once sanitizer drops. Once algae is established it has to be treated aggressively to clear it, and it returns quickly if the underlying balance problem is not fixed.
Weekly service prevents that cycle rather than responding to it. It is also materially cheaper than an occasional deep clean, because the work required is maintenance rather than recovery.
Winter and Year-Round Service
Pools in this part of BC stay open far longer than pools in most of Canada. With mild, wet winters there is a stretch of the year where the water gets cold and the pool sits, and that is the period most likely to cause problems if the water is left untreated.
Our maintenance runs through the year rather than stopping in October. Over the colder months the focus shifts to keeping the water balanced and clear, circulating the system, and watching for anything that would cause damage through a freeze or a long period of neglect. Who We Maintain Pools For
We cover Surrey, Langley, Maple Ridge, and White Rock, and our routes are grouped so that a weekly visit is efficient and reliable rather than a long drive each time. That matters more than it sounds: a maintenance service that skips a week because it was not worth the drive is not really a maintenance service.
Most of our regular clients are in one of three situations: a family with a pool and a busy week, an owner who travels regularly and needs the pool handled while they are away, and an older homeowner who would rather not deal with the physical side of it at all.
