White Rock is a short drive from our Surrey base and one of the more straightforward areas we service. Small lots, older pool installations, and a lot of pools that need a regular hand rather than a lot of work. It is also an area where we see a fairly consistent pattern of the same few issues, which is worth writing down.

Older Pools Are the Norm Here
A great many of the pools in White Rock are older in-ground installations, some of them among the oldest we work on. That usually means a set of predictable issues.
Plaster nearing the end of its life
Plaster that has been in for thirty years is often stained, unevenly coloured, and rougher than it should be. At that point, patch repairs stop being worthwhile and resurfacing becomes the sensible conversation.
Salt air and corrosion
Proximity to the ocean brings salt into the environment, and salt is hard on metal. Pool equipment, fasteners, and heating components corrode faster near the coast than they would inland. This is why pool covers matter more here than almost anywhere, since a covered pool is shielded from the worst of it, and why corroded fittings are one of the more common repair calls we make in White Rock.
Small pools, big weather exposure
Many White Rock pools are on compact lots with limited shelter, and are more exposed to wind and to debris blown in off the beach. Evaporation is higher on an exposed pool, and more debris means the skimmer and filter work harder.
Above-ground and older installations
There are also a number of older above-ground pools and steel-wall installations in the area. These have their own ageing problems, particularly with liners and underground plumbing, and are worth having assessed before anything is replaced.
Salt, Wind, and Water Chemistry
Pools in coastal areas lose more water to wind and evaporation, and every top-up introduces more fresh water that needs balancing. If your pool needs topping up more often than it used to, and the chemistry keeps drifting, the issue is the top-up water rather than the pool.
